LettrDrop Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Luckstone Games ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you play LettrDrop on iOS and Android. If you have questions, contact us at support@luckstonegames.com.

1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data

Luckstone Games is a business unit of Anthonsen IT, which is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Display name (username) and selected avatar and other cosmetic choices

  • Email address and password, if you register or upgrade to an email account. Passwords are stored securely and cannot be read by us.

  • Sign in with Apple or Google: if you sign in this way, we receive an account identifier and the email address Apple or Google shares with us. With Sign in with Apple you can choose "Hide My Email", in which case we receive a private relay address instead of your real email.

  • In-game chat messages you send to opponents

  • Word suggestions you submit, and reports you file about other players

  • Feedback you send from the game: the category you choose, your message, whether you agree to be contacted about it (only offered if your account has an email address), and, if you send it from a match, which match it was. We also attach the game version, your platform (iOS or Android) and your language setting, so we can reproduce problems.

  • Friends list and blocked players

  • Language setting: the language you choose in the game (English or Norwegian), so notifications and account emails reach you in that language

Information generated by playing

  • Game history and statistics: matches played, moves, scores, wins and losses, achievements, points and unlocked items

  • Purchase status: whether you have bought "Remove Ads" and from which store (we never receive your payment details; payments are handled by Apple or Google)

  • Invitations: when you share an invite link, we record that an invite was shared, to count referrals

  • Gameplay statistics: the game records a small set of events, linked to your user ID: opening the app and launching it for the first time, finishing or skipping the tutorial, starting and finishing a match (your score, your opponent's score and the result), combos you score (number of words and bonus), sending or accepting an invite, opening or sending feedback, being reminded to choose a username (and whether you followed the reminder), and changing your username (whether it replaced the automatic guest name). Each event includes the time, the game version and your platform. We collect these ourselves and store them with the rest of your game data; they are not shared with advertisers or other third parties.

Information collected automatically

  • A unique user ID for your account

  • Push notification token: a device-specific token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (and, on iPhone, Apple's push token) so we can send you turn notifications

  • Advertising data collected by Google AdMob (see section 4): your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iPhone, only if you allow tracking; the Advertising ID on Android), approximate location derived from your IP address, information about ads shown and your interactions with them, and crash and performance data of the ads software

We do not collect your precise location, your phone's contacts, photos, or health or financial information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account, and let you sign in (including with Apple or Google)

  • Match you with opponents and run multiplayer games

  • Show leaderboards, statistics and achievements

  • Let you chat with opponents, add friends and block players

  • Send push notifications, such as when it is your turn (you can turn these off in your device settings)

  • Send account emails you need to use your account: confirming your email address, resetting your password and confirming an email change. We do not send newsletters or marketing emails.

  • Check new passwords against lists of passwords exposed in known data breaches, so your account isn't protected by a password attackers already have. Only a small, anonymised fragment of a scrambled version of the password is checked; the password itself never leaves our systems.

  • Remember your "Remove Ads" purchase across your devices

  • Show ads through Google AdMob (see section 4)

  • Investigate reports, prevent abuse and enforce our rules

  • Count how often invites are shared, to understand how players find the game

  • Understand how the game is played, using gameplay statistics, so we can fix problems and improve the game (for example, whether players finish the tutorial or come back after their first match)

  • Read and respond to your feedback, and contact you about it if you allowed us to

Legal basis (EEA/UK players). We process your data because it is necessary to provide the game you have asked to use (contract): your account, games, chat, friends, purchases and notifications. We rely on our legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention, understanding invite usage, improving the game through gameplay statistics, and handling feedback you send us. Personalised advertising is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see section 4).

4. Advertising and Tracking (Google AdMob)

LettrDrop is free and is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the data listed in section 2 to show ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud.

  • Your consent. When you first start the game, you are asked for consent to personalised ads (in the EEA/UK and where required by law). On iPhone you are also asked by Apple whether LettrDrop may track you; if you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not shared and ads are not personalised based on it.

  • Changing your choice. You can change your ad consent at any time in the game under Settings → Manage Ad Preferences. On iPhone you can also change tracking permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and on Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings.

  • Remove Ads. If you buy "Remove Ads", ads are no longer shown.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to run LettrDrop. They process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies:

6. International Transfers

Your game data is stored within the EEA (Sweden). Some of the services above, such as Google, Apple, GitHub and Resend (whose parent company is based in the United States), may process data in the United States or other countries outside the EEA. These transfers are protected by safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data Retention

  • We keep your account data for as long as your account exists.

  • Finished matches and their chat messages are deleted automatically 72 hours after the match ends. Your overall statistics (such as wins and total points) remain on your profile.

  • Gameplay statistics are deleted automatically after 2 years, or earlier if you delete your account.

  • Feedback is kept for as long as your account exists, and is deleted together with it.

  • Inactive email accounts are deleted automatically after 3 years without any sign-in or game activity.

  • Deleting your account: you can delete your account at any time in the game (Profile → Delete Account). Your account is deleted permanently after a 7-day grace period, during which you can change your mind with Profile → Cancel Account Deletion. Deletion removes your profile, game history, friends, chat sender information, gameplay statistics, feedback and push notification tokens. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also revoke LettrDrop's access to your Apple ID.

  • You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@luckstonegames.com.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact support@luckstonegames.com.

If you are in the EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Norway this is Datatilsynet (https://www.datatilsynet.no).

9. Children's Privacy

LettrDrop is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the game or on our website.
